I. DBC FINANCE SUPPORT

  1. If the question or problem relates to a particular DBC data file, then open the DBC Finance document, and use the Help menu - EMAIL DATA TO DBC function to send a question. It's best to submit the entire issuer, and to ask the question in the comment field.

    [Note: If this program is unable to upload the request initially, go to Tools--Preferences--Internet Settings, and change the Email Method to Use MS Outlook. Then try Email data to DBC again.]

  2. For general questions, fill out the support request form:

  3. For general (non-deal-specific) questions regarding use of DBC Finance, send an email to

  4. For program support via telephone, call 646-213-7198. Leave a message and someone will return your call as soon as possible between 9am and 6pm Eastern time.

  5. If you get a dialog box that says Diagnose a problem starting DBC Finance:
    1. Click the Diagnose button, and wait a few seconds.
    2. In the E-mail dialog, input contact info.
    3. Check Save diagnostics information .
    4. Check Create e-mail document .
    5. Click on Send e-mail button
      If Step E fails, then email the idotpt.idf file on your Desktop to dbcadmin@sscinc.com .

The original Video Tutorials were created in a format that is no longer supported by Adobe. At this time, we have not converted all of them to another format due to technical issues. However, there is a standalone video playing app from Adobe which you can download and use to view the video tutorials. These are the instructions to watch additional videos.

IV. Installation on a new computer

  1. Download the DBC Finance installer:

  2. Right click on the fin-setup.exe application.
  3. Choose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. (This may require help from your IT department.)
  4. When prompted, please enter the DBC Finance Product Key (including the dashes)

  5. After the installation finishes, run DBC Finance.
  6. If it says Diagnose problem starting DBC, click the INSTALL button under the Internet License section.
  7. Input the Internet License and License Code you or your firm have been given.
  8. If you do not have Internet License number and License Code, email admin@dbcinc.com for assistance.

V. Updating existing DBC Finance application to latest version

Please use these instructions to update DBC Finance to the current version:

  1. Exit out of DBC Finance on the computer to be updated before proceeding.
  2. Click on the link below and save the linked file FIN-LATEST.UPD to your computer.

  3. Right-click on the DBC Finance shortcut.
  4. Choose Open File Location.
  5. Right-click on the IUPDATE application from the folder.
  6. Choose Run as Administrator. (This step might require assistance from your IT dept.)
  7. In IUPDATE, select the file FIN-LATEST.UPD (saved in step 2).
  8. Click Open button.
  9. After a few seconds, you should see a message that the DBC Finance update completed.
  10. Run the DBC Finance application.
  11. Go to Help menu - About DBC Finance to verify that you're running the updated version.

If this procedure does not update DBC Finance, then contact your IT Department in order to install the update.

Below are some of the possible reasons for this updating procedure to fail:

  1. No write permission to Finance system files.
  2. User account permissions prohibit updating executables.
  3. Finance system files are in use and locked by another process on this computer or another user on the network.
  4. Bad or missing IUPDATE.EXE file.
  5. Bad or missing FINANCE.DBC file.
  6. Corrupt FIN-LATEST.UPD update file.

If the existing installation is missing update utility files, see Section IV above to reinstall DBC Finance.
